Organizational Design

In partnership with our clients, we provide a step-by-step methodology to identify the convergence/divergence of work flow, procedures, structures and systems. We then provide recommendations on potential realignment/s to address current business realities / objectives and thereafter work together to develop relevant implementation plans for change.

Change Management

When an organization undertakes initiatives to improve performance, seize opportunities or address key issues, it often requires change to processes, job roles, organizational structures, technology, etc. We work with our clients to enable them to adopt, embrace and learn a new way of working to drive organizational success and outcomes.

Strategic Planning

The prudent stewardship of resources - human, financial, and capital - is fundamentally what the Pappas Consulting Group is all about. We get great personal satisfaction working closely with our clients to resolve constructively and positively the most daunting and seemingly impossible of issues. After forty+ stimulating years in the education and non-profit world, we are convinced that no challenge is impossible to resolve where there is will. It is our job to work with our clients to help channel and focus their individual and collective will to ensure enduring change.

Academic Affairs and Support Services

We work with institutions to strengthen their academic and academic support programs, including: reengineering, processes and policies; developing academic master plans; conducting quality and productivity reviews; and providing professional development activities for academic leaders.

Board Governance

We work with Boards on the fundamentals of governance. As the school year looms on the horizon and non-profits begin to gear up their programs for the fall, we believe it is time for chief executive officers and their Board Chairs to establish a routine review and self-assessment of both individual directors/trustees/regents and the Board as a whole. Such an approach, applied on an annual basis, will enable you to assess the ability of individual directors and the Board as a whole to meet the requirements of sound stewardship in a time of fast-moving and continuous change. Such self-assessment should address basic Board policies and procedures, including:

Positioning Services

We view marketing as a multi-facetted tool for leveraging higher levels of organizational performance. Foremost on our agenda is linking marketing strategies to the organization’s mission and goals. To accomplish this, we avoid fads and frills that come and go in the field. We don’t offer any simple pre-packaged bromides to make all the problems disappear overnight. What we do offer is insight born of experience, the diagnostic tools necessary to identify solutions, and the superior skills required to help our clients achieve enduring solutions.

Talent Management

Accomplishing organizational goals in the current business world necessitates a sound people management philosophy that complements fiscal and strategic organizational philosophies. The primary objective of our focus in Human Resources Services is to develop linkage between these two philosophies. The services we offer, be they Human Resources audits, compensation and benchmarking studies, performance management interventions, or employee relations surveys, all endeavor to deliver lasting solutions that organizations can utilize as tools for the future.

Administrative Process Redesign

Administrative process redesign must be fully integrated with the intended technology opportunities and personnel talent which will interact with them. All of these must further reflect the overall Mission of the organization and its values for customer service, quality, and the interactions of its people. What we provide are effective methodologies for accomplishing these objectives, and real world experience in planning and managing significant organizational change.

Benchmarking and Data Analytics

The primary goal of data analysis is to organize and summarize raw data in a way that results in meaningful information.  The information can then be used to suggest recommendations that support decision-making.  Whether simple or complex, qualitative or quantitative, the correct methodology is the foundation of analysis.  Data visualization techniques support the clear communication of results.  Benchmarking, a technique often used in higher education analysis, places information in the appropriate context.   The objective is not just to know where an institution stands on a particular indicator, but why, and what the factors are that influence that indicator.  The resulting information can drive change in a reasonable way.

Facilities Management

We have executive experience in multiple aspects of facilities management. We collaborate with management and executive leadership to understand an institutions operational objectives. We are skilled in performing:

  • Operations and maintenance effectiveness assessment
  • Project management appraisals
  • Facility cost comparisons (utilities, operations, and maintenance, etc.)
  • Capital renewal development strategies
  • Facilities information systems selection and implementation
  • Customer service delivery improvements
  • Work process analysis and improvement
  • Performance metrics development and implementation

Our knowledge of facilities management best practices, our ability to quantify the performance of an institutions' facilities portfolio, and our capacity to develop and implement key performance metrics can help executives implement strategies to attain full value from their facilities investments.

Presidential Evaluations

We work with boards to develop Presidential/Chancellor evaluation policies and processes that include setting goals and objectives, stakeholder input, and an external evaluator component.

We also perform external evaluations of Presidents/Chancellors, including reviews of data, conducting focus groups with stakeholders, and preparing a Presidential/Chancellor evaluation report for a board.
